Step 1 ยท Understand the Basics

Choosing Your First Product ๐Ÿ›’

There's no perfect product โ€” just the right one for where you're starting.

Walking into a dispensary for the first time can feel like information overload. Hundreds of products, percentages everywhere, brand names that mean nothing. Let's simplify it.

What's your goal?

๐Ÿ˜ด Sleep

Higher CBD, some THC, calming terpenes like myrcene or linalool

๐Ÿ˜Œ Relax (no high)

CBD-dominant or high CBD:THC ratio products

๐ŸŽ‰ Social / Recreational

Balanced 1:1 (THC:CBD) is a gentle, beginner-friendly start

๐Ÿ’ช Pain & Inflammation

Oils, capsules, or topicals for targeted or body-wide relief

How to choose

1

Choose your method

For most beginners, oils or low-dose edibles are easiest โ€” consistent, no smoke, and easy to dose precisely.

2

Start with low THC

Don't chase high percentages. 5mg THC or less is a sensible start โ€” you can always take more next time.

3

Talk to your budtender

Tell them it's your first time and what you're hoping for. A good budtender will steer you right.

โš  Avoid as a beginner
  • High-THC products (20%+ flower or jumping straight to 10mg edibles)
  • Concentrates โ€” very potent, not a beginner product
  • Mixing cannabis with alcohol, especially at first
