How Cannabis Works 🧠
Your body was literally built for this.
Here's something most people don't know: your body already has a system designed to interact with cannabis. It's called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), and it plays a huge role in keeping you balanced.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The ECS is a network of receptors found throughout your brain and body. It helps regulate things like:
- 😴 Sleep
- 😊 Mood
- 🍽️ Appetite
- 🔥 Inflammation & pain
- 🧘 Stress response
Your body naturally produces its own cannabinoids to keep this system running. Cannabis compounds — like THC and CBD — work by interacting with those same receptors.
What happens when you consume cannabis?
When cannabinoids enter your body, they bind to ECS receptors — mainly two types called CB1 (mostly in the brain) and CB2 (mostly in the body). This is what creates the effects you feel.
- THC binds strongly to CB1 receptors → produces the "high" feeling
- CBD doesn't bind the same way → creates calmer, more subtle effects without intoxication
Why does everyone experience it differently?
Your ECS is as unique as you are. Factors like your metabolism, body weight, existing tolerance, stress levels, and even what you've eaten that day all affect how cannabis hits you. That's why the same product can feel totally different for two different people.
