Step 1 · Understand the Basics
Ways to Consume 💨🍫💧
How you take cannabis changes everything about the experience.
One of the biggest surprises for new cannabis users? The method matters just as much as the product itself. The same cannabis can feel completely different depending on how you consume it.
Smoking
Onset: 5–15 min · Duration: 1–3 hrs
Joints, pipes, or bongs. Fast-acting and easy to gauge your dose. Not the gentlest on your lungs.
Vaping
Onset: 5–15 min · Duration: 1–3 hrs
Heats cannabis without burning it. Often smoother than smoking. Available as dry herb vapes or oil pens.
Edibles
Onset: 30 min–2 hrs · Duration: 4–8 hrs
Gummies, chocolates, beverages. Delayed and longer-lasting. This is where most beginners accidentally overdo it — start very low and be patient.
Oils & Tinctures
Onset: 15–45 min · Duration: 2–4 hrs
Taken under the tongue. Great for precise dosing. Faster than edibles, slower than inhaling.
Topicals
Onset: 15–45 min (local) · No body high
Creams and balms applied to skin. Non-intoxicating. Great for targeted pain or inflammation relief.
Capsules
Onset: 30 min–2 hrs · Duration: 4–8 hrs
Cannabis in pill form. Tasteless, consistent, easy to dose. Same delayed onset as edibles — plan ahead.
