Step 1 · Understand the Basics

What to Expect 😌

Knowing what's coming makes the whole experience way better.

Cannabis affects everyone a little differently — but there are common experiences most people have, especially in the beginning. Knowing what's normal takes a lot of the anxiety out of it.

Physical effects you might notice

  • Dry mouth — have water nearby before you start
  • Red or heavy-feeling eyes
  • Relaxed muscles
  • Increased appetite
  • Heightened senses — colours brighter, food tastes better
  • Slower reaction time — don't drive

Mental & emotional effects

  • Feeling calm, relaxed, or euphoric
  • Chattier and more social, or quieter and introspective
  • Altered sense of time — things might feel slower
  • Heightened creativity
  • Mild anxiety or paranoia — especially with too much THC (it passes)

If you feel too high

You are not in danger. It will pass.
  • 🛋️ Find somewhere comfortable and safe
  • 💧 Drink water or juice
  • 🫁 Breathe slowly — try sniffing black pepper
  • 🌿 CBD can help counteract THC if available
  • ⏱️ Remind yourself it passes — usually within 1–2 hours

First time tips

Be somewhere comfortable and familiar. Have someone you trust nearby. Start small. Don't mix with alcohol. And give yourself nowhere to be for a few hours.
